COME HOME TO OHIO

It's December. November scooted on by without me getting a chance to say anything about Shop Sounds or Car Crushes. This is the time some folks countdown their favorite albums of the year. Since my musical diet has mostly been tunes from yesteryear, I've nothing to offer on that front.

PERKS

It should have been a day just like any other day. A pour-over coffee day. Yet lately, I find the stovetop percolator puts the zing in my mornin' dregs that the paper filter sifts out. It's the good oils and delicate silt brewed in a stiff pot of motor oil that gets the gears turnin' in the early hours.

VALENTINES FOR OCTOBER

Most days I feel like a total Wednesday Addams, loving the creepier side of life. Today is about the only day that no one judges we Addamses. They celebrate it. So, Happy Halloween all!

OCTOBER BOOGIE

Everyone looks forward to Christmas tunes, and I'm all let's keep it creepy a little longer! My music tastes have lately been stuck in the past. Nothing new has caught my airwaves besides some of the L.A. Psych Groups. This might be a slight plea for suggestions.

VW CAR CRUSH

Six. I've counted six classic VW Beetles in my neighborhood! Holy smokes. It's enough to ignite some heavy envy in any eye. Years ago it was my only dream car. In time since, it has fallen behind my more pressing fave raves in the lengthy queue. Now, I'm finding the little creep weasel its way into my dreams again.

JUNE GROOVE

I'm sure it's been summer everywhere else in the States for awhile now. But Ohio always takes its sweet time to shake off the chills and get the summer boogie. The breeze is cool. The sun glowing. Why not kick off the season with a groovy playlist?

NYC 1973

It began with the rewatching of Almost Famous  for the ten thousandth time. This 70's inspirational wave I'm riding, that is. It then led to reading the memoirs of a brassy Reseda girl, albeit a famous 1970's groupie, whose intimations could be a post in and of itself.

THE GIDGET

"I'm writing this down because I once heard that when you're getting older you're liable to forget things and I'd sure be the most miserable woman in this world if I ever forgot what happened this summer."
